Financial Research Search Agent
I built a streaming research agent that routes financial questions between direct educational answers and web-search-backed synthesis with citations.

The challenge
Route research questions without turning the system into an investment-advice or autonomous-trading product.

The approach
Implemented explicit LangGraph route, direct-answer, search, synthesis, and finalize steps behind a FastAPI NDJSON endpoint, with deterministic guards and provider-mocked tests.
Routing before generation
High-confidence educational and time-sensitive cases use deterministic guards before an LLM handles ambiguous routing.
A deliberate product boundary
The service produces research summaries with sources and refuses personalized investment, tax, legal, or trading actions.

The outcome
A solo-authored technical assignment with 44 tests across seven files and explicit refusals for investment, legal, and tax advice; it was not a production deployment.
